Student Move-Out Checklist
1. Confirm Checkout Rules

Store
Compare the total term, transportation, access, insurance, prohibited items, climate needs, and whether the item is worth keeping.
Research Disposal
Use official item-specific guidance for materials that are broken, restricted, hazardous, contaminated, unusually heavy, or not accepted for donation.
Take Home or Move Forward
Keep items that fit the next space, are used regularly, or have personal value. Confirm vehicle space and the next property's rules.
Sell or Transfer
Allow enough time for pickup and payment. Do not rely on a last-day buyer, leave sold items in common areas, or violate property access rules.

Missouri State Donation-Station Context
Missouri State Residence Life's April 11, 2026 announcement said residence-hall donation stations would accept unopened non-perishable food through Bear Pantry and certain new or gently used household items through Love in Action.
That same announcement said the stations would not collect large furniture such as futons, couches, and chairs; pillows; mattress toppers; or large workout equipment. Treat this as a dated example, not a permanent rule. Check the current semester's Residence Life instructions before relying on any donation station.

Items That Need Extra Planning
Furniture & Exercise Equipment

Unknown or Contaminated Items
